The Challenge of the Forum

Drake states in his preface: "Where people congregate for any good purpose they · sing, and
forum audiences, above all, should voice their
fine · ideals in song."
Nothing has been more conducive to the good
nature and to the smooth running of Ford Hall
than the community singing indulged in immediately after the speaker has finished his lecture.
Before the intermission begins, the audience is
requested to rise, a chosen song is indicated, and
then there follows relaxation in song, unless your
neighbor possesses the same sort . of voice as
yours.
